Magazine: Giraffe in danger

The world's tallest animal is in danger of disappearing, after conservationists discovered there were fewer than 100.000 giraffes let in the wild. Now classified as “vulnerable to extinction”, the global population has plummeted by almost 40 per cent over the past 30 years. Habitat loss and illegal hunting in the African countries here they live are the major causes. Giraffe meat is said tot be tender and popular with locals.
